Which Monopoly Square Gets Landed On Most?

Over the long run, some squares get landed on far more than others — not because of luck, but because of how dice, doubles, and the Chance and Community Chest decks funnel traffic around the board. Every figure here is the exact stationary distribution of a Markov chain over all 40 squares, not a simulation.

Jail dominates: your token is sitting in Jail 10.9% of all turns — 3.7× more than Illinois Avenue, the next most-landed-on square. Three separate rules feed it: the Go To Jail corner, a Go to Jail card in either deck, and rolling doubles three times in a row.

How this is modeled: a player in Jail is assumed to always try rolling doubles to get out (rather than paying immediately), for up to three turns before being forced to pay. Chance and Community Chest cards are drawn with replacement from the standard 16-card US decks; only the ten Chance cards and two Community Chest cards that move the token matter here; the rest (cash payments, repairs, Get Out of Jail Free) have no effect on position. House rules — a Free Parking jackpot, no rent while in jail, and so on — aren’t modeled, since they vary by table and don’t affect movement anyway.
